Day 29 – Maroochydore

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!!

We went for a drive to the Big Pineapple today.

We bought a fresh pineapple, looked around the pineapple plantation and Ryan enjoyed playing on the rides at the café:

They also have the Big Macadameia Nut, but unfortunately it was closed……

Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the ginger bread man!! That’s right, we also went for a tour to The Ginger Factory today.

It’s hard to find good indoor activities on the Sunshine Coast where everything is geared towards outdoor activities. Although I was sceptical at first, it turned out to be a good morning.

First we went on a train ride, on a 100 year old train that was originally in operation in Papua New Guinea:

Then we went on an indoor boat ride chasing The Ginger Bread Man around the world (we found him in every country after we went around twice):

Afterwards we watched them make fresh ice cream (and tried some of course, no ginger for us, just banana and strawberry).

Quiz Question #36 – What was the spice ‘ginger’ referred to in England many years ago (think of the royals)?

Accommodation – Big 4 Maroochy Palms Holiday Village Sunshine Coast
